About

The Farms

Exceptional meat from a farming system you can trust. Outdoor, Free Range and Grass fed; there is nothing new about what our farmers do and that's the point.

At The New Meat Project we work with a small group of farms in the Malvern Hills, all within a few miles of each other

The stretch of land from the Wye Valley to the Cotswolds, taking in the River Severn and the Malvern Hills provides some of the best farmland in the UK, rich in space, fertile soil and grass. A few modern techniques added to traditional farming methods allows for a low impact farming system that works with the environment, not against it.

Our lamb

100% Grass-Fed Lamb

Our lamb comes from one farmer who grazes his sheep on pasture at the foot of the Malvern Hills. It has won best in show at the Three Counties Show many times over the years. Our lamb is 100% grass-fed and hormone and antibiotic-free and the animals spend their entire lives outside. The meat is hung for 10 days to develop flavour and texture.

Our pork

Properly free-range pigs for exceptional tasting pork

Our pigs are traditional native breeds including Hampshire, Large Black and a few Welsh sows that lead a properly free range life on the farm. The sows and boars all live together, mainly living in wooded and scrub areas where their favourite natural behaviour is to root and forage, which in turn gives life to new grasses and wildflowers the following year. They have a happy life and slowly reach maturity for a superior, deep flavour with excellent texture and covering of fat.

Our beef

Native breeds, 100% grass-fed

Our native breed beef is rotationally grazed using regenerative farming methods. The calves are born in the field and live outside with their mothers, all year round, only coming in if the weather is so wet that they can't find enough grazing. The Hereford and Aberdeen Angus are two of the best native breeds in Britain, both with rich, beefy flavour, good marbling and layer of fat. All our beef is dry-aged for a minimum of 28 days to develop an extra layer of flavour.

Our chickens

Properly free-range chickens, slow grown to maturity

Our Hubbard chickens are reared in Devon where they can roam, forage and scratch.  We looked long and hard for a Wye Valley and Malvern Hills area producer but couldn’t find one we were happy with.  We decided that in this case, animal welfare and product quality was more important than proximity.
